Update a PDF without changing its link or QR code

Every file FolderBloom shows gets its own permanent link and a print-ready QR code. When you replace the file in your Dropbox or OneDrive folder with a new version — same name, same place — that link and QR code open the new version after FolderBloom syncs. Flyers, signs and emails you’ve already sent keep working.

Live example

Try it: one file, one permanent link

This link and QR code belong to the “2026 Price List” PDF in our demo folder. When we replace the PDF, they don’t change — they simply open the newest version.

Scan the code or open the link — you’ll get whichever version of the PDF is in the folder now.

Same link, new PDF

A PDF's FolderBloom link and QR code, the PDF replaced in the cloud folder, and the same link opening the new version after sync.

Set it up

How to do it

About five minutes, and nothing to install.

  1. Show the folder with FolderBloom

Each file gets a permanent link. Copy it, or download its QR code from the dashboard.

  2. Print or share the link

Put the QR code on a menu, flyer or sign, or send the link in an email.

  3. Replace the file when it changes

Save the new PDF over the old one in the same folder — keep the same file name.

  4. That’s it

After FolderBloom syncs, the same link and QR code open the new version.

Questions

Common questions

What counts as replacing a file?

Saving the new version with the same name in the same folder — for example, uploading “Price List.pdf” again and choosing to replace it, or saving over it. Dropbox and OneDrive treat that as a new version of the same file, and FolderBloom keeps its link.

What if I delete the file and upload a different one?

A deleted file’s link stops working; a file with a different name gets its own new link. FolderBloom won’t point an old link at an unrelated file. To keep a link, replace the file instead of deleting it.

How quickly does the link open the new version?

After FolderBloom syncs the change — usually within a few minutes.

Want a link that always opens the newest file in a folder?

Use a “latest file” button: it opens the newest matching file in a folder — ideal when each month’s newsletter is a new file.
